After breakfast we had plans to go to Hong Kong Island and spend the day, but it was so early we decided we would go to the markets on this side of the water first.....we ended up spending all day in the markets over here in Mong Kok and Kowloon AND IT WAS AWESOME!
We started at the Flower Mkt and it was beautiful! Then off to the bird mkt (yes, this is where they sell real birds). It was disgusting (I despise birds) and loud, but good to see. Then to the goldfish mkt, where they sell goldfish (& there were a ton of vendors.
Then we went to the Sports Mkt (athletic gear), electronic mkt (tons of cell phones). After this we walked down Reclaimation Rd (which is crazy)....it is a mkt of hardware. Then we walked through a kitchen market (it was insane the amount of Kitchen stuff from sinks to bowls). After this we went to the Jade market which was equally amazing in Jade.
AND THEN we went to the LADIES MARKET and it was AWESOME! We shopped forever! We bought sooooo much stuff and spent less than $200 and that is AWESOME. Have I mentioned that I absolutely loved today?!?
To name a little bit of our goodies....
Davis - hat, 5 dress shirts, sachtel
Home - dragon bookends, Hong Kong cityscape to go with our Seattle cityscape
Cindy - 4 dresses, 2 pairs of shoes, purse
Now our feet hurt, but I think we will manage! It was so worth it!
We also had our first taste of local Hong Kong juice....Davis had watermelon (which was watermelon crushed in a cup) and I had Blueberry Milk Tea (I have no idea, but it was good).
they have these juice stands where you pick the fruits and/or veggies and they through them in a blender and hand you the cup for less than $1
this eel is chopped into 3 pieces but still alive...yuck (I also have a video of a fish skinned that is still breathing).
