First Baby Piece

Loule will officially get it's first baby piece posted this weekend but for my readers....you get a sneak peak, enjoy! If you don't know what Loule is, click on the button to the right and "Like" Loule on Facebook or go click here Loule.

This is (I think because I don't have kids and need to call my sister to measure my niece) a 0-3 month dress but possible a 3-6 month with ribbon detail across the top and a zipper in the back.

I made a new skirt today and I figured I would share.

I sewed this skirt last weekend and it was super easy, it might have taken me 3 hours total and I am pretty OCD about things. Here is a tutorial if you want to make one too :)

Earlier this week I went to Nordstrom Rack and bought this tank top for $8

My grandmother gave my sister quite a few nightgowns and my sister went ahead and passed them to me. I am not really sure why my memaw thought Mandy needed old lady nightgowns, maybe after 3 kids you are not allowed to have sex anymore and these nightgowns are a great deterrent from sex....maybe memaw was trying to tell Mandy something! Instead I took them to make beautiful new garments. My first project was this beauty, it kind of looks more like a choir gown than a nightie!
The length and the sleeves had to go, but I liked the button and color detail of the collar so......

THE FINISHED PIECE

This beautiful nightie turned dress made it's first appearance out in Belltown's bar scene last night and wondered why it had been made a nightie in the first place. It had been missing out for a long time!

Thrift Store Sewing

On my birthday, I know a long time ago now, I went thrift store shopping for some good fabric deals and was pretty successful. I just finished remaking the last piece and thought I would share.

Gupta/Nair Wedding

Yesterday our best Seattle friends had their wedding ceremony in Troy, MI. We flew out first class to Michigan on Thursday and I LOVE 1st class mostly because of the food but all of the other perks are good too :) We spent Thursday night Davis with Sushil and I with Nisha at their respective parties getting methi, Indian tattoos or henna. Sushil convinced Davis to get THUG on his fingers...Davis thought it would only last 2 weeks, but I think it lasts more like 2 months, oops! We then joined forces at a bar and celebrated together.

Friday was rehearsal and lunch for the bridal party which we attended since Sushil's day consisted of spiritual things they didn't think Davis would be up for. Dinner/Lunch was delicious and then on to the only thing to do in Troy apparently or so the girls said....the mall.

Saturday was the BIG day. Indian weddings are much different than American weddings obviously and one of the coolest things was the parade around the parking lot dancing to get the groom excited. This was traditionally done on horse, but theirs was done in a BMW some things change with time :) The ceremony and reception was gorgeous! We had a blast!

Sunday started at noon with Coney Island hot dogs and chili and DQ dipped cones. After all of this deliciousness we headed to the airport for Seattle.

Week Doings

This week Davis is in Boise, Idaho sounds like fun, huh? This is a great opportunity for me to sew like a mad woman which I guess I have kinda been doing. My dress will definitely be finished by next weekend just in time for the wedding.

Tomorrow is our anniversary....BIG 3 years! Davis is gone so not much is going to happen in the way of celebrating on our actual day, but really what does that matter? If he would have been in town it is Magic: The Gathering night anywho so he would have felt compelled to stay home so at least it's work that's keeping him from playing :) We don't have any exciting plans for our anniversary, but we are going to Sushil and Nisha's wedding next weekend in Michigan so that is considered our anni trip this year....hopefully Michigan will be cool! It's comewhere new at least and the wedding is open bar so no complaining there!

Not to be all mushy gushy BUT I do have to say that I couldn't have ask for a better man to share my life with. He makes me laugh daily and that's really all you need oh, and I guess love too! I love you Dave and miss you!

Davis - if you read this, don't let me forget our video since you are not in town...we will have to do it this weekend!

For those of you who are curious....we have a yearly tradition of recording a video on our anniversary of the past year occurences and what we have learned etc. I think it will be really cool for our kids to have one day :)

Goodwill

Today was a Goodwill/Thrift store shopping day with no luck :( Davis had over some of his Magic: The Gathering (nerdy card game) buddies and so I was kicked out of the condo which was fine with me because I had been wanting to go on a Goodwill excursion. My mission was to find some $1 deals that I could redesign into cute pieces, but what I found was Goodwill in the city is much better (better finds/brand name clothes) sooooo with that comes more expensive. So there was no buying in my excursion, but when I do want to actually buy clothes for myself again I know where to go :)

This means that when I am in TN for 2 weeks there will be some Goodwill/Thrift store excursions for me. I am seeing great things in my future already :)

I still have a lot to sew before our trip to TN so I guess not buying anything today was not such a bad thing!

Cover Up

My latest sewing project has been a swimsuit cover up and it is finished as of this morning. Here it is modeled by Roxie!
