Five Fingers

FiveFingers is a brand of shoe that looks like a sock. I have been interested in these shoes for quite some time because they are suppose to be great running shoes. Here is a little blurp from the website about running barefoot and why you should do it...

The benefits of running barefoot have long been supported by scientific research, coaches, and athletes who’ve offered ample evidence that training without shoes allows you to run faster and farther with fewer injuries.

Motion studies demonstrate that when running barefoot, one naturally lands on the forefoot, directly below your center of gravity. This results in optimum balance, increased stability, less impact, and greater propulsion. According to Dr. Ivo Waerlop of the Vibram Biomechanics Advisory Board, “Running in FiveFingers improves agility, strength, and equilibrium, plus it delivers sensory feedback that allows runners to make immediate corrections in their form. This greatly improves running efficiency.”

No footwear comes closer to recreating the experience and natural sensation of running barefoot than Vibram® FiveFingers. It delivers all the health and performance benefits of barefoot running—with less the risk of injury. Our patented Vibram® sole acts like a second skin to protect you from elements and obstacles, so you can reap the rewards of barefoot running.

As with any new sport or activity, Vibram recommends you consult your physician or a medical professional to see if natural running in FiveFingers is right for you. It may not be appropriate for people with severe pronation or supination.

So far I have ran 5.5 miles in them and let me be the first to tell you that running barefoot makes your calves work 10 times harder!!! but other than that I have enjoyed them.

The bikila series just came out in April and have been impossible to find in stock. I finally found them a month ago online, but they were backordered for a month so I kept looking and FOUND some in stock so Ireceived them on Thursday. I am absolutely in love with this model and color!!

First Working Week

My first week was great, I can't complain at all. I have my own office and they let me order anything I wanted (reasonably) from Staples to make my office more comfortable....so this week was a little like Christmas. They have thrown a LOT of information at me which is a great for me because I hate to be bored. It looks like I will take over a lot of my responsibilities come Sept 1. I am not going to be a major part of this month's close, but I will be closing the books come September end. I am super excited about my role and am learning new things daily!

1 week down 49 more to go to have my license!!

GAGA

Last night, Lady Gaga did her thing in the Tacoma Dome and it was awesome!! I absolutely love her and her music, it's nice to see someone become famous and stand for something. It's usually the opposite, someone becomes famous and looses sight, looses their beliefs.

Of course there were thousands of people (mostly girls and gays) dressed to impress and it was pretty cool to see everyone's outfits and creative thinking!

My last Viv day

Yesterday was a sad day, it was my last day with Viv. It's not the last time I will see Viv as we (her family and I) are going to try our best to keep me in Viv's life starting by keeping her next Friday night. It definitely will be different not seeing her every week, but hopefully I will be in her life enough that she won't forget me :( because that would be very sad!

Since yesterday was our last day together to play especially outside, I took a billion pictures :)

I am going to see how this works

This is a pre-school song that teaches them to keep their elbows off the table
"Mable Mable strong and able, keep your elbows off the table"
she likes to put her elbows all kinds of places and substitute other words for table

We're Jammin'

So this week's Wednesday cooking was all about berries and making jam. Molly introduced us into the world of canning our own jam and it was super easy and delicious! Thanks Molly!
