Our Christmas Tree

So living in 465 sq ft with minimal closet space is not an ideal place for a traditional Christmas tree. Since we needed something that didn't have to be stored, we decided on a ficus tree. We named her Iris and she is a rescue tree since we bought her in November and she was looking pale. We have decorated her for Christmas and she is enjoying her new home. She is hoping that Beast will not mark his spot on her, but you never know when he will start feeling territorial.

I will now introduce you to Iris, the urban Christmas tree....

My new hobby

Since I have graduated, I have a little extra time on my hands so I have started reading and crocheting. My first crocheting project was a hat for myself. I posted pictures below. I was really proud of myself considering I taught myself and my first project is actually wearable. I have bought yarn for my second project which is going to be a scarf.

The hat and the ribbing
the hat without the top finished
the top finished without the ball
completed project 1...I love it!

Tag, you're it!

So we were tagged by Mandy to play a little blog game and it goes like this.....go to your 4th picture folder and click on the 4th picture. Post and give 4 thoughts on the picture....pass on the tag to 4 people!

So 1st off just let me tell you that I have way too many pictures for those rules, so I had to go to my 4th folder which was "2006", then go to my 4th folder which was "Davis", then here we go....
1. This was obviously in 2006 (stated above) and it was my very first trip to Davis's parent's home in Estill Springs, TN, which was 1 week before Davis graduated from undergrad.

2. It reminded me of me and my roommate trying to figure out what outfits were appropriate for the trip. If you didn't know Bri she was a hoot and thought that my outfits for this trip home would make or break my relationship with my soon to be in-laws. We decided no booty-shorts.

3. Davis decided when we were driving home that he would take me through Sewanee, which is on Mount Eagle Mtn. As we were driving down the mtn (it had been raining), we slid and ran into a guardrail on my side of the car. We sat in total slience for about 1 minute. Davis was so embarrassed especially since we were meeting his mom for my first time in like 10 min at a restaurant to eat lunch and she was going to be extremely mad at him (or so he thought). So, naturally he parked where she could not see the damage until after she had met me and we had eaten lunch. We hit the guardrail so hard that I had hit my head on the seatbelt cover on the side of the car (the plastic piece that moves up & down) that it broke into pieces. For added effects here is a picture of the car.

4. The picture also reminded me of the story of Davis telling his parents that he had a girlfriend on AIM. They responded asking if I was a blow-up doll. They never expected that he was dating not to mention my name is Cindy Smith so they thought that he had made me up.

Hope you enjoyed the stories!

I tag Jessica Armes, Tyler Masters, Adam Chan, Amber Quinn.

Happy Birthday Davis!

Davis is officially 25 today! We had an awesome weekend. Friday night I cooked dinner and one of Davis's co-workers and her boyfriend came over and ate with us. After eating we played Rock Band and Skip-Bo before heading out to meet 3 more friends for drinks. We went to 2 different bars downtown and then return home late.

Saturday was a resting day. We laid around all day and watched tv, did laundry, and ate. That night we meet up with some friends at Belltown Billiards and played pool and danced. We closed the night with a cream cheese hotdog from a hotdog stand on the corner. Apparently cream cheese hotdogs are a Seattle staple. It was a good time!

Sunday, today, was yet another lazy day. We went to CJ's for breakfast this morning with friends (our weekly breakfast place). After chowing on some biscuits & gravy, eggs, and hashbrowns we walked home and laid around. We watched TV and played Mario Kart and after dinner we took Beast to Rocky Mountain Fudgery and Davis had a chocolate dipped cheesecake and I had a chocolate dipped banana with nuts. We love the city!

Dave's Birthday Weekend

As most of you know, Sunday is Dave's 25th birthday! yay, our car insurance will go down! His gift from me was a snowboard & of course I didn't buy a new one. I found a snowboard on craigslist and when we went to look at it his roommate just happened to be selling a set of bindings so we luck up and got the snowboard & bindings for $160. His boots we have had for maybe a month. We went to REI flagship store one day (by the way this store is HUGE) and they were selling their old rental boots for $14.....you can't beat this deal!!!! Now he is set and we can go boarding any day of the week with our own equipment!

For his birthday I had planned a surprise get together tonight, but as always one of his co-workers let it slip so now he knows. I am cooking dinner for 6 of us and then we are going to the bars and hopefully meeting others! It should be a good time and I am glad that we have friends to go out with.

Davis's parents bought him Mario Cart for the Wii for his birthday and we have been playing everynight....it is a great game! Thank you guys!

I am posting a picture of Vivian, the 8 month old that I keep during the week. She is a doll and I know everyone would enjoy to see her. This picture was taken yesterday when we went for our walk.

Beast last night laying on my side of the bed with his arm propped on the pillow..he's so cute!

A night out

Last night we went to dinner with all of the new hires except for 1 that was out of town. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory, which is always delicious! It was Dave's first time. We got the oreo mudslide cheesecake and it was wonderful, although I am partial to the Godiva. After dinner one of the new hires and his wife came back to our apartment to play Rock Band. We had a good time. We love having company!

I took BEC (a part of my exam) on Thursday and felt pretty good about it. I am glad it is over! I think I am going to take the holidays off and then take my next part in January and hopefully be done!

Obama has WON by a landslide!

Recognizing this great day in history! I studied CPA most of the day and Davis worked, but it was still a wonderful day!

Oh yeah, Fulmer was fired yesterday (another day in Tennessee history)!

Bumble Beast

Happy Halloween! I missed being at home and handing out candy to all of the hundreds of trick or treaters, but we actually managed to get to know people in Seattle and that was just as exciting! We went out to dinner with one of Davis's co-workers and then headed to a party that a friend of his was hosting. It was a lot of fun. We met quite a few folks (mostly from Michigan).

Davis's parents bought Beast a Halloween costume. He was a Bee, and a very cute one! He hated it, but we did manage to get a few good pictures before he escaped the torture of Halloween.

More good news....I found out that I passed a part of my CPA exam! YAY!
